Notarial Sudies

The candidate to the practice of the notarial profession must have a bachelor of law degree issued from a Quebec university or a licence in law from the Civil Law Section of the University of Ottawa. The candidate must then undertake a Diploma of Notarial Law granted by Université de Montréal, the Université Laval or the Université de Sherbrooke. This diploma is a one-year graduate programme to be completed on a full-time basis. The candidate is then required to undergo a 32-week professional training period supervised by the Chambre des notaires du Québec. Once the aforementioned requirements have been completed, the candidate shall be sworn in as notary according to professional laws and regulations.

Detailed information may be obtained by contacting those responsible for the diploma of notarial studies at either one of the above-mentioned universities.
